First Weekend Complete
Issaquah, WA – January 12, 2012
13 Cyclone, 14 Inferno and 14 Hurricane started their 2012 season with encouraging results. Cyclone went 2-1 in their morning pool before losing to Capital Ice 14 and Lake Tapps 14 Blue in the afternoon, with both matches going 3 sets. Cyclone will start in flight #5 in the first round of power league.
Inferno won their morning pool by going 2-0 and in the afternoon had tough matches against All Out 14s, losing 14-16 in the 3rd before carving out an exciting come-from-behind victory over Whatcom 14s, 16-14 in the 3rd after being down 10-14. Inferno will start in flight #3 in the first round of power league.
Hurricane went 2-0 in both their pools and held onto the #6 overall seed by winning their crossover match against the #11 seed, PSVBA 13 National to complete their day undefeated. Hurricane will start in flight #1 in the first round of power league.
15 Typhoon, 16 Thunder, 17 Storm, and 18 Tsunami started their 2012 season with mixed results. Typhoon split their first two matches in their morning pool, but couldn’t find a groove and continued to struggle in the afternoon, losing all 3 of their matches. Typhoon will compete in this weekend’s Northwest Juniors MLK Tournament at Juanita High School and will start in flight #4 in the first round of power league.
Thunder went 3-0 in their morning pool, but found themselves in a dog fight in their afternoon pool and ended up in a 3-way tie for first after beating Above the Net 16s and NW Jrs 16s Elite Gold, but losing to South Hill 16s. When the dust settled, Thunder ended up 3rd and will start the first round of power league in flight #3.
Storm went 2-1 in both their pools, beating KJVBC 17s, Sabotage 17s, and losing to Central WA Elite 18s to force a 3-way tie for first. Storm ended up 3rd in their 2nd pool and then defeated Space Needle 18 Waves in its crossover to close out their day 5-2. Storm will start in flight #3 in the first round of power league.
Tsunami went 1-1 in their morning pool and then lost all 3 of its 2nd round pool matches, to WVBA 17s, PSVBA 18 Regional, 17-19 in the 3rd, and NW Jrs 18s to put them in a crossover match against SIVA 17s. Tsunami fought hard but went on to lose that match and will start the first round of power league in flight #4.
