Kristy LeMond Impact Fund

Kristy LeMond passed away on May 1, 2013, at age 24 from soft-tissue sarcoma.  She had a passion for helping children and acted upon that calling at a young age.  During the two years before her diagnosis, Kristy travelled to the Dominican Republic, Tanzania, and Chile, volunteering and working with children.  Each time she returned from a journey, her heart overflowed with love for the children she met.  Her unconditional love, genuine care, and infectious smile left an imprint on the children as well.  She wanted to make a difference in their lives, and through this she learned that giving herself to others filled her heart and gave her a sense of purpose for her life.

Kristy was part of the SIVBC family for 5 years as a player and 2 years as an assistant coach. She loved volleyball and used the sport to connect with kids during her travels.  In honor of Kristy’s life, the LeMond family has partnered with Sudden Impact Volleyball Club to start an Impact Fund. The hope is to inspire other SIVBC players (past and present) to find and follow their passion to make an impact in the world, as Kristy did.
