Michelle Manlangit Chapin
U17 Head Coach
Michelle has been with the club since she was a junior player herself. She played Varsity Volleyball as an outside hitter for Bishop Blanchet High School for 3 years and helped her team finish 9th, 7th, and 5th at the State Championships. Michelle played club volleyball for 3 years, two of which she played for current Sudden Impact coaches, Teron Uy and Hue Ong. She then went on to Seattle University to study Computer Science and played on the re-kindled Women's Volleyball team for two years as their starting defensive specialist (no libero position yet!).
Michelle's coaching experience begins at St. Mark's School in Shoreline when she was a sophomore in high school. With her guidance, she helped her team to numerous championship matches, winning one City Championship with her 6th grade team. After graduating from Seattle University, she returned to her alma mater, Bishop Blanchet High School, as an assistant coach. There, she added two 5th place State finishes and two State Championships to her belt in addition to multiple Metro League and District Championships.
In 2000, she returned to Sudden Impact as an assistant coach and has been with the club ever since. Michelle has coached at every age level from U12 to U18 as both head and assistant coach. As a Gold Medal Squared coach, she has also attended four GM2 coaching clinics. Her teams have qualified multiple times for JO's: Silver Medal 2004 JO U18 Invitational Division; 10th Place 2005 JO U15 American Division; 2008 JO U18 American Disivion Qualifying Team; 2009 JO U17 National Division Qualifying Team.
Michelle currently resides in Mill Creek, WA with her husband Rusty and step-son Connor. She is a Software Developer for POP in Seattle and works on websites like The Metropolitan Opera, The Seattle Opera, Big Apple Circus, and The Seattle Children's Theater. She has two labrador retrievers named Abagail and Molly and likes to travel, go hiking and camping, and spend time with family and friends.
