Hue Ong

U16 Head Coach

Associate Director

Hue Ong is one of the original coaches who helped start Sudden Impact Volleyball 14 years ago and is currently one of the Associate Directors.  He will be the head coach of the U16 this season.  Hue is also on staff with Nevillizms Inc. working with Bill Neville.  During the summer he has helped run one of the top courts at Jim McLaughlin’s Volleyball Camps.

Now in the fourth year of his second tour of duty at Seattle University, Hue Ong has proven to be an important asset to the SU volleyball program. He brings many years of collegiate and club coaching experience to a diverse staff and has helped bring about immediate results both on the court and in recruiting.

Ong first served as an assistant under Steve Nimocks from 2000 to 2003, helping the team improve from 4-23 in 2000 to 22-7 in 2002 to 17-9 in 2003, which included a second place finish in the GNAC and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. Ong then moved on to Northwest University, which was the top-ranked team regionally and a national NAIA power, before coming back to Seattle University. Ong also volunteered as a coach at Eastside Catholic High School for three years.

Originally from Vietnam via Indonesia travelling across the Pacific mainly by boat!  He spent two years at a refugee camp in Indonesia before immigrating to the U.S. in 1979.
