Chris "Fitz" Fitzgerald

U17 Typhoon Assistant Coach

Chris played 4 years of high school volleyball at North Allegheny just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. There he was coached by Pennsylvania coaching legend and author of The Volleyball Handbook, Bob Miller.  The three seasons Chris was a varsity letterman, his team came in 3rd, 5th and 2nd in the State. He later learned that his legacy on the court was composure and inability to dive on his left hip.

He graduated from Penn State University with an Aerospace Engineering degree and moved out to Seattle in 2006 to be an engineer for Boeing. Working on the 787 program for the last 3 years has taught Chris great patience. Chris refuses to start drinking coffee or carry a back pack like everyone else in Seattle, but has started to enjoy the outdoors more than he thought he would. He recently climbed Mount St. Helens and knowing how unprepared he was while still making it to the top, recommends this climb to the average hiker/climber.

His parents still reside near Pittsburgh and he has two sisters. His younger sister now attends Penn State and Chris likes to believe that he taught her everything she knows (including her volleyball skills). Even though he is now 2500 miles from home, he still enjoys going on family trips.

Chris never turns down an opportunity to play volleyball and tries to make everyone around him better while playing. Other than volleyball, he enjoys playing golf and softball and will never turn down a challenge. College football pretty much takes up his entire Saturday during the season and requires at least one trip back to Penn State each year to see a game.

He looks forward to growing as a coach and providing a fun, competitive environment.
